How to Play Poople

The Rules

1. Each day, Poople (the official daily word game) picks one random 4-letter start word.
2. Your goal: reach the word POOP by changing exactly one letter at a time.
3. Every intermediate step must be a valid English word.
4. Fewer steps = better score. The site tracks the shortest path found each day.

Strategy Tips

• Head for common vowels early. Words like POOL, COOL, TOOL are one step from POOP-adjacent forms — the fastest ladders funnel through the -OOL and -OOP families.
• Change consonants first. Vowel positions (especially position 2) are the bottleneck; fixing vowels early keeps more doors open.
• Know the classic bridges. GOOP, POOL, POLL → POOL → POOP and WOOD → GOOD → GOOP → POOP appear in many optimal ladders.
